SolidWorks- A Simple Tutorial (Lecture 1)

Assalamualaykum and a very good evening to everyone!!!

Alhamdulillah, after for a very long time, now I have the chance to write and update something on my blog wall, hehe..Today I want to share with you a simple tutorial about SolidWorks , a kind of drawing software for CAD( Computer Aided Drawing) like AUTOCAD, ANSI, Alibre, Catia and many more in the market. This tutorial today is just a basic learning not for intermediate nor for expert level. I do admit that I am already fall in love with it since I've never imagined that finally I managed to learn and do a lot of drawing by myself like todays, alhamdulillah! Frankly speaking, I have no confidence to do any CAD exercise before and keep asking people and in fact sometimes I even tried to escape to do any kind of drawing using the software .

Many times I tried to do drawing by myself and learnt with several 'guru's but the improvement was so poor. But today, starting this semester, with a new spirit which I believe I gained from the correct person as a suitable teacher; my tutor, now I finally very confident when doing any drawing and in fact able to teach my other fellow colleagues.Thank you to all teachers including my  previous drawing teachers :)  A special dedication to Bro Zayan (I believe he is from India, a postgraduate student), whom have give me a new hope to learn this knowledge. I still remember his word that " Everyone is not same" when I keep repetitively say  sorry to him due to my 'slowness' at the beginning. Jazakumullahu khairan kathira. May Allah bless you and all my teachers, amiin.

Now, lets start.

Open the SolidWorks (mine is  2013 version).Go to the 'File' icon, click on it

This small table will appear, so click on 'Part'.Then, click 'Ok'.

You will see this page. So, the next step is we want to start the drawing.See, there is small table on your left side.

Click 'Front Plane' (it will change to blue colour), then  single click  . The plane will appear like above.

Then, to start sketch activity, right click again on the 'Front Plane', it will show several small icons on top of it, so choose the rightest picture-'Normal to'.Click it.Again, right click on 'Front Plane' and bring the cursor to the icon 'Sketch' at leftest side.click on it.

Bring the cursor to the icon 'Circle' on top or the highest table.Click one and bring the cursor to the sketch plane at the centre. Once you finish a circle, you may choose to click 'Enter' or just release your finger from the cursor and click 'Esc' to create new circle.

Proceed for a new smaller circle where you choose the centre of the circle as a point of origin.

To make like a tyre, we need extrusion process, so bring your cursor to the upper-left side of the screen . Choose ' Features' and click on it.

You will see on top it, the icon 'Extruded Boss/Base' will appear , so click on it .

Put your depth or the width of extrusion. The, you may see the ' ' symbol.Click on it.

Okay, now we want to the fillet, also like in 'Features' choose 'Fillet' icon (almost at the centre of the screen). Next, select the area which you want to have the effect and click on it/them. Again click  to confirm the exercise.

Tadaa! See? You dont have to worry about the line.

From another perspective/view.

To conclude, actually this simple tutorial is actually not fully completed yet,I haven't teach you on how to put the dimension, to select the parameter either in inches of milimeters and so on.I believe even small children can do this practice huu. Ma'as salaamah wa ial liqa'.

Wallahualam bissawab.

Picture of TC from Google

Saat ini
hatiku sedang dipagut rasa rindu
kepada sebuah tempat lama
yang buatku sekian lama tidak berjumpa

Tempat itu tersangat indah
buat yang menghargai kehadirannya

Kulihat tingginya batang-batang yang menggalah
menujah ke angkasa
membina kanopi hijau seakan raksasa
melindungi jiran 'kecil'nya dari panas dan teriknya cahaya

Kabus selepas hujan
tambah seri pada 'wajah'
Sang kayu reput menyembah tanah
menjadi baja buat 'generasi' seterusnya

Di situ ada sungai
'laut' gelaran penduduk sekitar
yang pelbagai saiz dan dalam
dari sekecil-kecilnya sehingga sebesar-besarnya
walau warnanya tidak putih jernih
bukti kewujudan ia menjadi nadi alam
habitat semulajadi zaman-berzaman
walau kini diancam kerakusan insan
tetap dijaga oleh 'asal leluhur kita'

Daunan mengkuang meliuk-lentuk
seakan melambai kepada sang penghuni alam
ditiup oleh sang angin yang meniup kencang
mencipta kuakan pada permukaan
mengingatkan pada 'mitos silam'
dalam dasarnya kisah naga berdiam

Tasik Chini lah namanya
tempat mula kenal pelbagai cerita
serta ragam manusia pelbagai rupa
buatku yang menjadi 'penghuni sementara'
si pengembara dunia sang Pencipta

Tasik Chini, Pekan Pahang in memory
